    ADHD in Adults

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a developmental disorder of childhood which can often persist into adulthood. It can manifest itself by causing problems in one's ability to focus, pay attention to detail and complete tasks, organise oneself or remain patient in situations which demand patience. If these issues are causing concern in your everyday life, you may have ADHD in Adulthood and the results of treatment can be life-changing. ADHD can sometimes be complicated by other mental health difficulties like Anxiety and Depression, Personality Disorders or Bipolar Illness. To find out if you may need help with ADHD, please book a Consultation.

    Autism Assessment

If you suspect you may have an Autistic Spectrum Disorder you can book an assessment with our Psychiatrist at Atrom Mindcare and we will do our best to help. High Functioning Autism also known as Asperger’s syndrome is a Neurodiversity. People with Asperger’s have a brain that works differently and whilst there is no treatment required, they can better adapt in the world we live in through social skills training and choosing a career suited to their neurodiversity. Due to the hardships people with undiagnosed Autism often have to undergo, they can often have comorbidities like Anxiety and Depression or other Mental Health conditions which can be treated.

    Anxiety and Depression

Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Inevitable life changes sometimes worsen these. When these emotions become severe, they interfere with relationships, leisure, work and life in general. Through treatment, you can recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life. Please book a Consultation if you think you need help with this.

    OCD, Trauma, PTSD and Phobias

Intrusive thoughts, repetitive behaviours; extreme fear in certain situations, preventing everyday life activities or traumatic life experiences leading to emotional & functional difficulties can all be uncomfortable experiences. Therapy can be highly effective in combination with medication, in moderate and severe situations. Please book a Consultation if you require help with these conditions.

    Personality Disorders

Being abused or witnessing abuse, being bullied, lack of supportive parenting and other traumatic experiences whilst growing up can impact one's life-long ability to trust other people, form confiding relationships and the ability to cope normally in times of stress. Some conduct difficulties experienced in childhood can be pervasive into adulthood and impact all aspects of life and normal functioning. Some people with Personality Disorders are more vulnerable to developing other complex mental health problems like Addictions, Depression and Psychosis.

    Bipolar Affective Disorder

In recent years, the diagnosis of Bipolar Illness has received increased media attention due to various celebrities having suffered from it. The condition is characterised by severe prolonged mood swings accompanied by sleep disturbances and uncharacteristic thoughts and behaviours. Treatment with Mood-Stabilising Medication is very effective.

    Psychotic Illnesses / Schizophrenia

About 1% of us are prone to developing a Psychotic illness in times of stress, due to illicit drug use, infection or injury or sometimes, even without a trigger. When this happens, one maynot see a need to wash and dress appropriately, one loses touch with reality and can have beliefs which seem bizarre to others or experience hearing, seeing, smelling or feeling things that other people are unable to experience. This can lead to difficulty functioning. Holistic treatment is very effective.
